Important announcement re: iCONN Newsstand

Due to the recent state budget holdback, effective November 1, iCONN will discontinue all ProQuest newspapers except the Hartford Courant and the Historical Hartford Courant.  All CT libraries will continue to have access to the New York Times (1985 - present), Christian Science Monitor (1996 - present), and London Times (7/1985 - present) through Academic OneFile.  In addition, we will continue to have access to the Wall Street Journal through ABI Inform.  Both databases are still provided by iCONN.

Witchcraft in Connecticut

An evening with documentary filmmaker Andy Blood - Showing clips from his film, The Devil Among Us: America's First Witch Hunt, Andy Blood will discuss why he chose to make a film on this particular topic, how he went about the filming and piecing together of the story, and the pitfalls he encountered while making the documentary. Tuesday, October 27, 2009, 4:30 p.m., in the Joslin Family 1823 Room. If you are interested in local history, filmmaking, or even in the lore of Halloween, this event is sure to be a treat!

Important news about iCONN resources

Due to last minute changes in the state budget, iCONN (the Connecticut Digital Library) will suspend access to the following databases effective October 1, 2009:

AP Images (ADDENDUM: available through October 31, 2009 courtesy of the vendor)

Boston Globe

Campus Research (available through October 9, 2009 courtesy of the vendor)

CINAHL Full-Text (Index will remain intact)

Online catalog will be unavailable from midnight to 2am Sunday morning

The online catalog will not be available on Sunday in the early morning hours: midnight to 2 a.m. You can use http://www.worldcat.org as an alternative to find what items Trinity owns, but this tool won't be able to help you find their shelf location. This downtime is a result of necessary network maintenance being performed by the vendor.

Borrow laptop locks at the library!

Laptops are frequent targets of theft on campus. It only takes a few seconds for a thief to walk away with your computer AND all the work you have saved on it! Protect yourself -- borrow a laptop lock from the Circulation Desk in the library. Just show your ID and the lock is yours for the next 24 hours. They are so easy to use... and much easier than filling out a police report!

New science journal collections now available

The Library has added two new science journal collections.  The IEEE Computer Science Digital Library provides access to 27 journals and 3,300 conference proceedings.  OpticsInfoBase from the Optical Society of America (OSA) contains journals and recent conference proceedings.  Please direct any questions about these resources to Jennifer van Sickle (x2250).
